Surrey resident wins $5 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot
Jane D. learned she had won the $5-million Classic Jackpot while shopping in Nanaimo, BCLC says. She plans home renovations, investments and travel.

A Surrey resident learned she had won $5 million in the Lotto 6/49 draw while shopping on Vancouver Island, according to BCLC.
Jane D., whose surname is withheld under BCLC’s winner-privacy practice, said she discovered the win at the Country Grocer on Cedar in Nanaimo. She said her husband initially did not believe the news until he saw the ticket-validation slip.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Rexall on Willow Street in Chemainus for the Aug. 8 Lotto 6/49 draw. It won the $5-million Classic Jackpot prize.
Jane D. said she intends to use the money for home renovations, investments and future travel. BCLC says lottery players in B.C. have redeemed more than $50 million in Lotto 6/49 prizes so far in 2026.
