Port Moody’s 2026 local election offers mail-in and in-person voting
Port Moody voters can vote by mail or in person in the Oct. 17 local and school board election. Mail ballot applications are due by noon on Oct. 9.

Port Moody’s 2026 General Local and School Board Election is on Saturday, Oct. 17. Voters will elect one mayor, six councillors to City Council and two school trustees to the School District 43 Board of Education. Those elected will serve four-year terms from November 2026 to October 2030. City councils and school boards make decisions that directly affect residents and their families, including utilities and roadwork, parks and recreation, community development, and local school district policies and budgets. Eligibility information for residents and non-resident property electors is available at portmoody.ca/vote.
Eligible Port Moody residents and non-resident property electors may vote by mail. Applications must be submitted by noon on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026. Applicants must complete their ballots according to the instructions provided and return them using one of the methods listed on the City’s Voting by Mail Ballot webpage. Completed ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, to be counted.
Advance voting will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Oct. 10, in the Wellness Room at the Port Moody Recreation Complex, 300 Ioco Road. Voting hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on both days. General voting day is Saturday, Oct. 17. The following four locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.: Glenayre Community Centre, 492 Glencoe Drive; Heritage Mountain Community Centre, 200 Panorama Place; Kyle Centre, 125 Kyle Street; and the gymnasium at the Port Moody Recreation Complex, 300 Ioco Road. All in-person voting locations are accessible to people using mobility devices.
The City uses the provincial voters list as its register of resident electors. Anyone listed as a Port Moody voter on the provincial list is already registered for the local election. People who need to register when voting can consult the frequently asked questions webpage for acceptable identification.
Port Moody households have been sent a voter information package by post. It includes voting options, key dates, where to find election results and the list of declared candidates. Candidates could choose to include their own independently produced brochures; the City did not review those brochures before distribution. Candidate profiles and nomination documents, voting locations and answers to frequently asked questions are also available at portmoody.ca/vote. For information not available on the website or in official City notices, contact the Election Office at elections@portmoody.ca.
