Doug Elford expected to represent Surrey council on police board
Surrey Coun. Doug Elford is expected to be appointed as council’s representative on the Surrey Police Board on Monday, replacing Rob Stutt, who was not re-elected. Elford says the appointment is not official yet and declined to comment before it happens.

Surrey city councillor Doug Elford is expected to be appointed as council’s representative on the Surrey Police Board this coming Monday. Contacted Friday, Elford declined to comment. “It’s not official yet,” he told the Now-Leader, adding that he would not comment until it happens. He joked, “Was that the worst kept rumour in Surrey, or what?”
The seven-member Surrey Police Board is scheduled to meet next on Wednesday, November 18. Elford, of Safe Surrey Coalition, will replace Rob Stutt of Surrey Connect, who was not re-elected on October 17.
Newly elected Safe Surrey Coalition Coun. Cheney Cloke served on the police board as vice-chair until her term ended in late 2022. She could not be reached for comment. More information is expected.
