Fire crews battle house blaze in New Westminster

No injuries have been reported after a house fire in New Westminster Sunday afternoon, New Westminster Fire Rescue Services says.

Acting Assistant Fire Chief Gord Denhoed said crews were called shortly after 5:30 p.m. to a home on 5th Street near 3rd Avenue. They found heavy smoke and flames coming from the house on arrival.

Initial reports indicated everyone was outside the home, Denhoed said. There were also reports of a tree on fire in the backyard.
