Richmond RCMP step up construction-zone enforcement
Richmond RCMP are enforcing speed and turning restrictions at Westminster Highway and No. 2 Road, where night construction has created complex traffic changes.

Richmond RCMP’s Road Safety Unit is conducting enforcement at the night construction zone at Westminster Highway and No. 2 Road, where major infrastructure work has brought lane closures and turning restrictions.
Police say construction crews are directing heavy traffic through the area. While most motorists are complying, officers have observed some speeding and ignoring posted signs, creating risks for workers and other road users.
Officers have issued violation tickets for speeding, using an electronic device while driving and disobeying traffic signs. Cpl. Niels Hermes said reduced nighttime visibility and altered traffic patterns make construction zones particularly hazardous.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area when possible, plan alternate routes and slow down, watch for signs and follow traffic directions if travelling through the work zone. Richmond RCMP says enforcement will continue.
