VPD arrest woman wanted Canada-wide after public tip

Vancouver Police say they arrested Kelly Renee Stonechild on the night of July 27 after receiving a tip from a member of the public.

Police were told shortly after 9:30 p.m. that Stonechild was near Clark Drive and East 12th Avenue. She was wanted Canada-wide for allegedly breaching probation on a manslaughter charge.

VPD said Stonechild did not comply with officers' directions and allegedly reached toward her waistband. Officers used a police dog to take her into custody without incident. She remains in custody.
