Series filmed in Maple Ridge and Langley earns national award nomination
Director Lucie Guest has been nominated for a Directors Guild of Canada Award for the first episode of Providence Falls: Chance of a Lifetime, filmed locally.

Lucie Guest has been nominated for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Movies for Television and Mini-Series at the Directors Guild of Canada Awards. The nomination recognizes the first episode of Providence Falls: Chance of a Lifetime, a three-part Hallmark Plus series filmed in Maple Ridge and Langley.
The story begins in Ireland in 1844, where a thief named Liam falls for an aristocrat, Cora. After their love changes her destiny, angels send them to present-day Providence Falls, Oregon. Liam must make sure Cora marries another man, while Cora, now a leading police officer with no memory of their past lives, works alongside him as his police partner. Katie Stevens stars as Cora, Lachlan Quarmby as Liam and Evan Roderick as Finn.
Executive producer Alex Coscas, who co-founded Reckless Pictures, said the production filmed in Ireland as well as Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows with a local crew. He praised Guest’s work as a writer and director and said the team was proud to see her recognized.
The 25th annual DGC Awards have so far released half the nominees in the television-series, movies-for-television and mini-series categories. Further nominations for feature films, documentaries and short films, along with the shortlist for the Jean-Marc Vallée DGC Discovery Award, are to be announced Saturday, Sept. 26. DGC president Warren P. Sonoda said the nominees demonstrate the talent, expertise and creativity of Canadian television. Winners will be announced Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts in Vancouver.
The Directors Guild of Canada is a national labour organization representing more than 7,000 creative and logistical workers in screen-based industries, including direction, design, production and editing.
