Most of the 200 or more rubber ducks that slipped through a barrier during the Rotary Duck Race in Maple Ridge have been recovered, Meadow Ridge Rotary says.

The breach happened Aug. 9 as thousands of ducks travelled along the Alouette River at Maple Ridge Park during the fundraiser for local youth and seniors organizations. Volunteers believe some ducks may still be in reeds along the river.

The club is working with the Alouette River Management Society on a community volunteer call-out. Anyone who finds a duck is asked to return it to the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre. Resident Clint Callison is offering 25 cents for each returned duck and can be reached at Clint_callison@cooperators.ca.

The 2026 event raised more than $97,000. Sheila Schmidt won the $15,000 top prize.
