Maple Ridge theatre group brings back Halloween radio drama fundraiser
Emerald Pig Theatrical Society will stage its second annual live Halloween radio show with the Phantom Players on Oct. 29. The evening features three classic dramas, and all proceeds go back to Emerald Pig.

Emerald Pig Theatrical Society is bringing back its Halloween radio show fundraiser for a second year, promising chills and thrills on stage. The group will team up with the Phantom Players, a theatre group focused on phantom and Gothic Victorian-era shows, for “Twisted Tales: A live Halloween radio show and fundraiser.”
The evening will feature three stories. The first is “Skeleton Bay” by Emil Tepperman, followed by “The Hitch-Hiking Corpse,” which has no credited author. Both first aired on “Inner Sanctum Mysteries,” a radio program that ran from Jan. 7, 1941, to Oct. 5, 1952. The third story has not yet been announced.
“Emerald Pig is not responsible for nightmares, cold sweats, or the need to look over your shoulder constantly on your way home,” the local troupe said online. Phantom Players members helping with the show are Hayley Lavik, Kirby Lavik, Jenn Striemer and Simon Challenger. The source provides no further role for Challenger.
All proceeds will go back to Emerald Pig. The show takes place Thursday, Oct. 29, at St. Andrew’s Heritage Church, 22279 116 Ave., Maple Ridge. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 each. Tickets are available at www.emeraldpig.ca (https://www.emeraldpig.ca/).
