Fire closes Mission landfill near Maple Ridge
A fire in a wood-chip pile at the Mission landfill has been contained, but the site remains closed while crews respond and residents are asked to avoid the area.

A fire at the Mission landfill northeast of Maple Ridge has prompted the site to close until further notice.
Maple Ridge firefighters were called to assist after the blaze broke out before noon on Aug. 20. The landfill is along Dewdney Trunk Road.
The City of Mission says the fire is contained to a wood-chip pile near the landfill's active working face. It says there is no apparent risk to the public or surrounding properties.
Mission Fire Rescue Service has asked people to avoid the area. The city says it will provide updates as the response continues.
