Gas leak closes River Road in Maple Ridge

A gas leak has prompted a full closure of River Road in Maple Ridge. The route along the Fraser River is closed in both directions between 216th Street and Carr Street as Fortis BC crews repair the gas line.

The closure is expected to last until between 7 and 8 p.m. Fire crews and Fortis workers are on site.

The public is asked to avoid the area, use an alternate route and follow posted signs and directions from traffic-control crews. Weather or unforeseen site conditions could affect the work, and the closure may be extended if necessary.
