Witches plan to haunt Pitt Meadows waters with fifth annual paddle
About 50 members of The Women Who Paddle are expected to dress as witches and paddle decorated kayaks and paddleboards along the Alouette River in Pitt Meadows on Oct. 24. The group-only event can be watched from shore.

Witches are preparing to dust off their broomsticks—and their paddleboards—for an evening paddle on the Alouette River. This is the fifth annual Witches Haunt the Water event, which draws about 50 participants each year. They dress in witch-themed outfits and decorate their kayaks and paddleboards as they travel along the river in Pitt Meadows.
The event is organized by The Women Who Paddle, a private Facebook group, and is limited to group members. Onlookers can watch from shore. Participants will enter the water at Silver Bridge along Harris Road starting at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, then paddle east.
The Women Who Paddle is an open, inclusive group for women in Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows and surrounding areas who want to expand their circle of paddling companions. To learn more or ask to join, visit https://www.facebook.com/groups/791462864842417/.
