Soil compaction work at new Pitt Meadows school site may cause noise and vibration
Work to prepare the site for a new Pitt Meadows Secondary School starts Monday, Oct. 19. The district says nearby school occupants may hear noise or feel vibration during daytime work expected to continue through the week.

Maple Ridge–Pitt Meadows School District is advising families and neighbours of Pitt Meadows Secondary School that site work beginning Monday, Oct. 19, may be disruptive. Crews will compact and stabilize fill material with specialized equipment as part of ongoing preparation for the new school, helping prepare the ground for future construction.
Because the work is close to the existing school building, noise and vibration may be heard or felt inside. Crews will work along the building’s south side, starting at the west end and moving east. Work is expected to proceed in cycles of about 60 to 90 minutes, with breaks of about 30 minutes between cycles.
The work is expected to continue throughout the week from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., during the contractor’s regular working hours. SD42 said online: “Thank you for your patience and understanding as this important site preparation work gets underway.”
