Ruth Mabel Romnuk (Ford) died on Aug. 22, 2026, in Maple Ridge, B.C. She was born June 28, 1943, in Victoria, B.C. Her husband, Alexander, and brother, Gerald, predeceased her. She is survived by daughters Carmen (Marcel) and Bonnie (Todd), granddaughter Haley (Corey), and brothers David (Andrea) and Dennis (Linda).
The eldest child of Raymond and Mary Alice Ford, Ruth grew up in Greater Victoria with her three brothers. She excelled at school and played on numerous sports teams. She married Alexander Romnuk on Jan. 12, 1963, and moved to the Lower Mainland.
Ruth worked for most of her career as a library assistant in School District 43. Her family remembered her for spending lunch breaks with children who needed extra support or someone to talk to, and for making people feel cared for and valued. In retirement, she made memories with family and enjoyed visiting her local casino.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Ruth’s name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, a charity she supported for many years.
