Ridge Meadows Hospital maternity services diverted until Friday
Ridge Meadows Hospital is diverting maternity patients until 8 a.m. Friday because of a temporary gap in obstetrician-gynecologist coverage.

Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge is diverting maternity patients from Tuesday, Aug. 18, until 8 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, because of a temporary gap in obstetrician-gynecologist coverage.
People in labour or with pregnancy concerns are asked to call the Maternity Unit before going to the hospital, at 604-463-4111. Fraser Health staff will direct patients to the appropriate hospital for care.
Fraser Health says the diversions reflect increased demand for specialized obstetrician-gynecologist care and a shortage of available coverage. Similar diversions have occurred regularly, generally several times a month, since December 2025.
The health authority describes diversion as a last resort and says it is recruiting specialist physicians. It has recruited one physician for Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, which has also experienced diversions this year. Further information is available at fraserhealth.ca.
