Maple Ridge seniors can book October flu-shot clinic appointments
Maple Ridge seniors can now book appointments for an Oct. 15 flu-shot clinic, where COVID-19 boosters will also be available.

Maple Ridge seniors can now book appointments for an October flu-shot clinic by calling 604-467-4993. COVID-19 booster shots will also be available, and both vaccines can be booked at the same time.
The clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, at the Maple Ridge Seniors Activity Centre, 12150 224 St., Maple Ridge. Attendees are asked to bring their CareCard. Fraser Health recommends annual influenza vaccination, with vaccines typically available from mid- to late October. Influenza vaccination is free in B.C. for everyone aged six months and older.
According to the health authority, influenza spreads easily and can cause serious complications or death among vulnerable people, including young children, people with certain medical conditions and long-term care residents. The virus can spread for 24 hours before symptoms appear, meaning people may pass it to family and friends before knowing they are sick. Vaccination is especially important for young children, pregnant women, people aged 65 and older, people with certain medical conditions, and those who live or work with people at high risk. More information is available from the Maple Ridge Public Health Unit at 604-476-7087.
