Fire at Maple Ridge Salvation Army building may displace clients
A fire inside the walls of a Maple Ridge Salvation Army building was extinguished in about an hour Monday; no injuries were reported and displacement is being assessed.

A Monday morning fire at a Salvation Army building in Maple Ridge may displace clients of the charity, officials say.
Fire crews were called at about 7 a.m. on Aug. 17 and upgraded the incident to a commercial structure fire after finding smoke at the building near Lougheed Highway and 222 Street.
Fire Chief Dave Samson said crews traced the fire to the walls and opened them to reach it. Firefighters worked from inside and outside the building and extinguished the fire in about an hour. No injuries were reported.
The fire was near an area containing sleeping quarters. Investigators have begun examining the cause, while Salvation Army officials and a restoration company will determine whether clients need to be displaced. The organization provides food, housing and other services to people in need.
