A Maple Ridge RCMP food drive brought in nearly 300 pounds of non-perishable food and $400 for Friends in Need Food Bank.
Maple Ridge RCMP collected nearly 300 pounds of non-perishable food and $400 in cash for the Friends in Need Food Bank during its Cram the Cruiser drive on Aug. 22.
Officers accepted donations at the Cottonwood Save-On Foods store. The food bank says demand has risen by almost 75 per cent over the past five years and it now serves nearly 1,000 households in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows each week.
Two additional food drives are planned for September. Donations can also be made online at friendsneedfood.com.
