Maple Ridge food bank seeks society members ahead of annual general meeting
Friends in Need Food Bank Society is accepting new membership applications and director nominations until Sept. 28 before its Oct. 28 annual general meeting.

Friends in Need Food Bank Society is seeking members interested in supporting its work in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows as it prepares for its annual general meeting. Annual membership costs $10 and offers members opportunities to support the society in the community.
Executive director Kim Boekhorst said membership helps people who are genuinely interested in the organization remain connected. Members may volunteer and take part in the society’s annual general meeting and governance under its bylaws.
Current members who want to retain their membership and participate in the meeting must pay their 2026/2027 annual dues of $10 before it begins. New applicants must submit an application and the $10 fee by Monday, Sept. 28, for board approval. Boekhorst said the society is not pursuing a large membership drive or a set target, but hopes to complement its existing membership with people sincerely interested in the organization and its local work.
The nominating committee will accept director nominations until Sept. 28. Proxy voting is not permitted under the bylaws. The annual general meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, with registration beginning at 5:30 p.m., at unit 8, 22726 Dewdney Trunk Rd., Maple Ridge. Membership information is available from the Friends in Need Food Bank office at 604-466-3663, extension 204, or at www.friendsneedfood.com.
