Beem Credit Union initiative awards $2,500 to Maple Ridge anti-violence society
Cythera Anti-Violence Society is among 19 community organizations across British Columbia receiving funding through Beem Credit Union’s first Season of Giving campaign, which distributed $100,000 in total.

Cythera Anti-Violence Society has received $2,500 through a new initiative launched by Beem Credit Union. The society was one of 19 community organizations across British Columbia funded in celebration of International Credit Union Day and as part of the credit union’s inaugural Season of Giving campaign.
Cythera was nominated for providing safety, shelter, counselling and support services to individuals and families affected by violence and abuse. Executive director Kristy Rogge said her team was grateful that the credit union recognized its work. She said support for local organizations means a great deal to the team and, most of all, to the individuals and families they serve.
Rogge said the society had not yet received formal notification about the funds. She added that support like this helps it continue vital services for women and children experiencing violence, including safe shelter, counselling and resources to help them move towards safety, stability and independence.
Beem employees who nominated Cythera said the organization has spent more than 40 years helping vulnerable community members rebuild their lives with dignity, stability and hope. They said a donation would directly support life-changing programs promoting safety, healing and long-term well-being for those who need them most.
The organizations nominated by Beem employees received a total of $100,000. Recipients represented causes including mental health, family and community services, food security, youth development, seniors’ support and violence prevention. They were selected for the meaningful impact they have on British Columbians. Funding was awarded at three levels: five organizations received grants of $10,000 each, five received $5,000 each, and eight received $2,500 each.
Throughout October, Beem employees also supported community organizations through volunteer activities. Beem spokesperson Andrew Rathwell said the activities further strengthened connections between employees and the communities they serve. The campaign is intended to reinvest in the communities where credit union members live, work and build their futures.
Beem Credit Union serves more than 200,000 members. It is one of Canada’s largest provincially regulated credit unions, with more than $18 billion in assets under administration.
