Campfire ban lifted in Maple Ridge
Category 1 campfires became permitted at noon Thursday, Sept. 3, after Maple Ridge lifted its ban; larger fires and several other burning activities remain prohibited.

Campfires are again permitted in Maple Ridge in time for the Labour Day long weekend. The City of Maple Ridge lifted its campfire ban after the Coastal Fire Centre made its decision based on an updated wildfire-risk assessment and changing weather conditions.
Category 1 campfires became officially permitted at noon on Thursday, Sept. 3. They may be no more than 0.5 metres high and 0.5 metres wide and may be used for recreation or a First Nation ceremonial purpose.
Category 2 and Category 3 fires remain prohibited. The ban covers larger burn piles and backyard burning, as well as fireworks, burn barrels and cages, controlled air incinerators and binary exploding targets. Rules are available at MapleRidge.ca/Fire-Bans.
