Fire Hall 4 will host a free family open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 3, with tours, safety activities, food by donation and information on lithium-ion battery charging.

Maple Ridge Fire Hall 4, at 11240 238 St., will welcome visitors from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, for an open house marking the start of Fire Prevention Week. The free event will include a tour, hands-on activities, safety demonstrations, fire prevention resources and practical tips for the home, emergency preparedness information, prizes and giveaways. RCMP Safety Bear and Sparky the Fire Safety Dog are also scheduled to appear.
The Maple Ridge Firefighters' Charitable Society is providing a barbecue lunch by donation, and Panago will serve pizza. Fire Prevention Week runs Oct. 3 to 10 this year and focuses on “Using Your Charging Super Powers,” highlighting safe charging habits for lithium-ion batteries in the home. Organizers say the family-friendly event is a chance to have fun, meet local firefighters and learn simple safety habits people can use right away.
