Canadian employers are projecting an average salary increase of 3.1 per cent in 2027, according to Normandin Beaudry’s annual compensation survey of more than 800 organizations.

The consulting firm’s figures exclude employers freezing salaries, meaning the national average reflects organizations that have budgeted for raises. The survey said organizations are planning salary-increase budgets consistent with those reported in 2026 despite what economists call a technical recession in Canada.

A 3.1 per cent increase on a $70,000 salary would amount to about $2,170. A 3.4 per cent increase on $65,000 would add $2,210 annually, bringing the salary to $67,210. The projected 2027 average remains below the national average of about 4.2 per cent recorded in 2023.

Six sectors are projecting increases above the national average: telecommunications, data processing, data warehousing and related services, and finance and insurance, both at 3.4 per cent; real estate, rental and leasing, technology, and construction, each at 3.3 per cent; and professional, scientific and technological services at 3.2 per cent.

Regional projections vary modestly, with Quebec at 3.2 per cent and Alberta at 2.9 per cent. Normandin Beaudry said the figures do not guarantee an individual raise, which can depend on performance, the job market and an employer’s decisions.
