Power has been restored at City of Maple Ridge facilities affected by a morning outage, the city says. City services, facilities, phone lines, online systems and programs are returning to normal operations.

The underground parking lot at the Maple Ridge Leisure Centre has reopened. The city thanked residents for their patience.

The outage had affected an area west of 244 Street, south of 129 Avenue, east of 216 Street and north of Lougheed Highway. BC Hydro was responding and working to restore service, while city facilities operated on generator power.

Essential operations continued during the outage, though some city services, facilities, phone lines, online systems and programs could have been limited or temporarily unavailable depending on how long it lasted. Public safety and emergency services remained fully operational.

There was no lighting in the Leisure Centre's underground parking lot during the outage, and residents had been asked to avoid it until power was restored and use alternative locations. The city encouraged residents to check BC Hydro's outage list or outage map for updates on affected areas and estimated restoration times, and to plan visits to city facilities accordingly. It said further updates would be shared as information became available.
