Maple Ridge East MLA Mok backs B.C. Conservative leader amid departures
Maple Ridge East MLA Lawrence Mok says he still fully supports B.C. Conservative Leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay as a fifth MLA leaves the caucus in two weeks.

Maple Ridge East MLA Lawrence Mok says he remains firmly behind B.C. Conservative Leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay despite a series of caucus departures.
In a post on X, Mok said he was saddened by the recent exits of four colleagues but respected their choices. He said he had “100 per cent” support for Findlay, calling her capable and the party’s best prospect for a better British Columbia. The post was viewed more than 11,000 times and drew derisive comments.
Mok said he attended an Aug. 22 meet-and-greet with Findlay in Abbotsford and continues to see considerable support for her leadership.
Courtenay-Comox MLA Brennan Day left the party on Wednesday, becoming the fifth caucus member to depart in two weeks. The departing MLAs will sit as independents; Kamloops Centre MLA Peter Milobar and Delta South MLA Ian Paton have said they intend to form a new party.
Day told Black Press Media that he had lost confidence in Findlay’s judgment, conduct and ethical standards, and criticized the people around her. Findlay, a former South Surrey–White Rock MP, became leader in May after John Rustad resigned. Since the 2024 provincial election, the caucus has fallen from 44 seats to 32 through departures and expulsions.
