Highway 7 widening completed between Maple Ridge and Mission
A more than $130-million project has widened about four kilometres of Highway 7 from two lanes to four between 266th and 287th streets.

Provincial and local politicians marked the completion of a Highway 7 improvement project between Maple Ridge and Mission on Aug. 24.
The project widened about four kilometres of the Lougheed Highway between 266th and 287th streets from two lanes to four, completing the last two-lane undivided section of the corridor.
The work included a median barrier, wider shoulders intended to support active transportation and new turnaround facilities. Officials said the changes are intended to improve safety, traffic flow and reliability for commuters and goods movement.
The budget was more than $130 million, including nearly $31 million from the federal government. Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows MLA Lisa Beare said the corridor is used daily by people travelling to work, school and services across the Fraser Valley and surrounding communities.
The project also involved Kwantlen First Nation in planning and construction, including habitat restoration and a cultural-recognition installation featuring Kwantlen artwork on a retaining wall overlooking Highway 7.
