Maple Ridge teen to hold benefit recital for Operation Smile Canada
Seventeen-year-old classical vocalist Chelsea (Yunxi) Jiang will perform an operatic and classical programme on Oct. 4, with all donations supporting Operation Smile Canada.

Maple Ridge teenager Chelsea (Yunxi) Jiang is holding a charity vocal recital this weekend to raise money for Operation Smile Canada, which provides life-changing surgery and care for children born with cleft lip and palate in low- and middle-income communities. The 17-year-old classical vocalist has performed in support of the charity since she was eight and has continued to take part in fundraising performances and community events. Jiang said music has become an important way to contribute to causes she cares about, and she hopes the recital will show her growth as a vocalist.
Titled “A Voice for Smiles,” the recital is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 4, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Golden Ears United Church, 22165 Dewdney Trunk Rd. in Maple Ridge. The programme will feature classical vocal and operatic repertoire. Admission is by donation, and all proceeds will go to Operation Smile Canada.
