Victim dies in hospital nearly two weeks after Maple Ridge shooting, police say
A 56-year-old man died Monday after an Aug. 18 shooting in a Maple Ridge residential neighbourhood. IHIT says the incident was targeted and involved people who knew each other.

A 56-year-old man has died in hospital nearly two weeks after a shooting in Maple Ridge, police say.
The man died of his injuries Monday, according to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, which is now leading the investigation. He had been in hospital since the night of Aug. 18, when he was shot in a residential neighbourhood. Emergency crews found him critically injured inside a vehicle on 236 Street.
IHIT said Wednesday it would not publicly release the victim’s name because investigators do not believe doing so would help advance their efforts.
The motive remains unclear, but IHIT described the shooting as targeted and involving people who knew each other. Spokesperson Sgt. Freda Fong said investigators continue to speak with the victim’s family and friends to understand his activities, relationships and movements before his death.
