SHARE: Feasting on fish

Wildlife photographer Mary Boogaard shared a photo of a young bear with a large fish in Maple Ridge. She said even a bear this young can catch a fish that looks almost too big for it, suggesting local black bears are thriving.

Boogaard noted that the salmon spawning season in October is an ideal time for bears to bulk up for winter.
