Paranormal investigations return to Maple Ridge’s Haney House
The Maple Ridge Museum and Cornerstone Supernatural will offer guided paranormal investigations at Haney House on Oct. 2 and 3, raising funds for the historic site.

The Maple Ridge Museum and Cornerstone Supernatural are bringing paranormal investigations back to historic Haney House for the Halloween season. The Dead of Night fundraiser will run Oct. 2 and 3, offering the public what organizers describe as an eerie evening of fun.
The Vancouver-based paranormal investigation group will lead 75-minute guided tours focused on the darker side of the house’s history. Participants can learn about and try tools and techniques used by paranormal investigators while looking for signs of spirits said to remain in the historic home.
Tours begin at 6 p.m., with a new group departing every 20 minutes. The final tour starts at 8 p.m. Booking is available online at checkout.square.site/merchant/KCVK2BPXQ91KG/checkout/EB6FYELWYZOF3KIEU72J4PVR.
Maple Ridge Historical Society executive director Gordana Dimovska said the event has been popular in recent years. The Haney family lived in the house for many years, and two people are known to have died there. While it is not specifically known as a haunted house, Dimovska said it has a distinctive character from another era; almost everything in it once belonged to the Haney family and was donated to the museum society.
Dimovska said the event is the museum’s largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds will support maintenance of Haney House and other costs of the non-profit society.
