Hundreds attend Maple Ridge’s lone Hot Summer Nights event
Maple Ridge Fire Rescue welcomed hundreds of residents to Firehall 4 for its only Hot Summer Nights event this year, combining water play with fire-safety education.

Hundreds of residents attended Maple Ridge Fire Rescue’s only Hot Summer Nights event of the year on Aug. 12 at Firehall 4. The free family event offered tours of fire trucks, chances to operate fire hoses and a spray from a ladder-truck hose in Firefighters Park.
Children also met local firefighters, took part in interactive safety demonstrations and learned about emergency preparedness while cooling off. One young participant tried on an oxygen tank with a firefighter’s help, while others were eager to climb into a fire truck or use the hose.
Maple Ridge Fire Rescue holds the annual event to help residents beat the heat and learn about fire and emergency safety. In previous years it travelled to different locations, but water restrictions meant the department held only one event this year.
