Canada Post foundation donates $25,000 to Maple Ridge food bank
The funding will support the Friends In Need Food Bank Society’s daily program to recover fresh food and distribute it to families across Maple Ridge.

The Canada Post Community Foundation has donated $25,000 to the Friends In Need Food Bank Society in Maple Ridge for its Perishable Food Recovery Program.
The program operates daily to rescue quality fresh food and redirect it to families across the community. The society said the contribution comes as it faces uncertainty about the long-term location of its recovery facility.
The funding will help strengthen the program, prepare for possible changes and keep recovered fresh food reaching people who need it, the society said. It thanked the foundation for investing in local food security, saying donations help recover more food, reduce waste and support more neighbours.
The Canada Post Community Foundation is a registered charity supporting health, education and community projects. It provides grants to Canadian schools, charities and community organizations that offer programs for children and youth up to age 21. Canada Post covers administrative costs, while all money raised goes directly to recipients.
Founded in 2012, the foundation supports small, underfunded projects as well as national organizations. It has provided $16.4 million to more than 1,400 projects across Canada.
