James Kenneth Hunt, known as Jim or Jimmy, died Aug. 29 at Royal Columbian Hospital at age 62. Born in Maple Ridge in December 1963, he was remembered by his family as sociable, generous and quick with a joke.
Hunt worked in warehouse management, beginning at Berryland, and also worked part-time as a line-dance instructor and DJ. His interests included astronomy, local geology and rock hounding, gardening and the stock market. He and his partner Shannon spent time in Mexico, Cuba and Hawaii, and more recently enjoyed their home in Princeton.
He is survived by his life partner, Shannon Munro; sons Craig Read (Haley), Brendan Hunt and Blair Hunt; sisters Eileen Carlson (Pierce), Gail Clarke (Doug) and Leslie Shail (Len); brothers Roy Hunt and Barry Hunt; and grandson Preston.
He was predeceased by his parents, Howie and Shirley Hunt; first wife Beth; and niece Sherri Lynne Thompson/Britton. His family said he preferred a family gathering of happy memories and stories instead of a formal service.
