Pitt Meadows to Honour Two Community Volunteers by Naming Ball Diamonds

The City of Pitt Meadows will honour two community volunteers by naming ball diamonds Pat Hardy Field at North Bonson Park and Coach Seven Field at Pitt Meadows Athletic Park. Council approved the honorary names to recognize Pat Hardy and Greg “Coach 7” Bodnarchuk for decades of service to youth sport, mentorship and community building.

The decision coincides with Council's July 21, 2026 approval of Council Policy C114, the Sponsorship, Naming and Honorary Naming Rights Policy, which sets a consistent framework for reviewing sponsorship, naming and honorary naming of City assets. Mayor Nicole MacDonald said the names recognize volunteers who created opportunities for local athletes, families and the broader community.

Coach Seven Field will be Diamond No. 7 at Pitt Meadows Athletic Park. Bodnarchuk has volunteered in youth baseball in Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge for more than three decades, serving since 1995 as a coach, mentor, administrator and community leader. His Super 7 program and tournament continue to introduce children to the sport.

Hardy began volunteering with Ridge Meadows Minor Softball Association in 1977, coaching her daughters' teams. She held several executive roles, including president from 1987 to 1989, and received an honorary lifetime membership in 1995. She supported accessible, affordable youth sport and improved local field amenities. Hardy died in March 2024.

Signage recognizing both honorary names will be installed at North Bonson Park and Pitt Meadows Athletic Park in the coming weeks.
