Maple Ridge opens nominations for 2026 local election
Nominations for mayor, council and school trustee positions will be accepted Sept. 1 to 11 ahead of Maple Ridge’s Oct. 17 local election.

Maple Ridge has opened the nomination process for its 2026 general local election, with voters set to elect one mayor, six councillors and five school trustees on Oct. 17.
The four-year terms begin in November 2026 and end in October 2030. Nomination papers will be accepted from 9 a.m. Sept. 1 until 4 p.m. Sept. 11 by the chief election officer or designate at Maple Ridge City Hall, 11995 Haney Place.
Candidates can find fillable forms and book an appointment at MapleRidge.ca/GoVote. The city encourages in-person submissions so staff can review documents for completeness. Papers may also be mailed to City Hall or emailed to Election@MapleRidge.ca.
To qualify, a candidate must be at least 18 on general voting day, be a Canadian citizen, have lived in British Columbia for at least six months before filing, and not be disqualified under provincial law. The campaign period runs from Sept. 19 to Oct. 17; cumulative third-party advertising is capped at $184,856.70. Elections BC can provide information on expense limits.
The city will use the provincial voters list. Residents not listed may register at a Maple Ridge voting opportunity with two pieces of identification. Eligible non-resident property electors can register in advance at City Hall until Aug. 25. The registered-electors list will be available for inspection beginning Sept. 1, and written objections must be received by 4 p.m. Sept. 11.
