The ACT in Maple Ridge to launch monthly improv comedy show
Comedy Improv Nights begins Oct. 15 at The ACT, where performers will create scenes on the spot from audience suggestions. Shows are also scheduled for Nov. 19 and Dec. 17, with more dates planned in the new year.
The ACT is launching Comedy Improv Nights, a monthly comedy show with no scripts or pre-planned scenes. It features improv comedy teachers Graham Myers, Mikaela Myers and Russ Brummer. Each scene is created on the spot from audience suggestions, so no two performances will be the same. Special guest improvisers from across the Lower Mainland will also take part.
Brummer is also the City of Maple Ridge’s manager of arts, culture and events. The city operates The ACT Arts Centre. The show is described as offering big laughs, unexpected moments and a shared experience, and is best suited to teens and adults.
The first performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 15 at 11944 Haney Place, Maple Ridge. Further performances are set for 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 19 and Dec. 17. More shows are planned for the new year. Tickets cost $30.98 plus fees.
