Yellow heat and air-quality warnings in effect for Maple Ridge
Maple Ridge residents are being urged to take heat precautions as yellow heat and air-quality warnings remain in effect, with conditions expected to improve later this week.

Maple Ridge residents are being advised to take precautions as a yellow heat warning remains in effect through the end of the day, alongside a yellow air-quality warning issued by Metro Vancouver Regional District.
A ridge of high pressure is bringing elevated temperatures to the region, while higher levels of ground-level ozone and fine particulate matter are affecting air quality. The City says a gradual cooling trend is expected later this week and air quality is expected to improve by the weekend as weather conditions change.
The City is monitoring alerts from Environment and Climate Change Canada and the BC Heat Alert and Response System. If an orange heat warning is issued, it says it will open a cooling centre from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; the location will be announced then and hours may be adjusted for temperatures.
During heat-warning events, bylaw compliance and community safety officers work with the Community Resource Hub and partner agencies to conduct wellness checks for unhoused residents, distribute water and connect people with available supports. The City also encourages residents to check on older adults, particularly those living alone or without air conditioning.
