Advance voting for Maple Ridge’s 2026 Local General Election begins Wednesday, Oct. 7, giving residents an opportunity to vote before General Voting Day on Saturday, Oct. 17. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at these locations: Oct. 7 at Albion Community Centre (24165 104 Ave.) or St. Luke’s Hall (20285 Dewdney Trunk Rd.); Oct. 10 at Ridge Meadows Seniors Activity Centre (12150 224 St.); Oct. 14 at Albion Community Centre or St. Luke’s Hall; and Oct. 15 at Albion Community Centre, St. Luke’s Hall or Fraserview Village Hall (22610 116 Ave.).

Carolyn Mushata, the city’s director of legislative services and chief election officer, said advance voting gives residents more flexibility to choose a convenient time and place. She encouraged people to review their options, confirm they are eligible and make a plan to vote.

Voters will elect one mayor, six councillors and five school trustees for School District No. 42. Those elected will serve four-year terms from November 2026 to October 2030. The full candidate list is at MapleRidge.ca/2026Candidates (http://www.mapleridge.ca/2026Candidates). Voters will also answer three separate assent vote questions about proposed long-term borrowing for Recreation Ready projects.

Residents who cannot vote in advance can vote by mail or on General Voting Day. Eligible voters can apply for a mail ballot at MapleRidge.ca/GoVote (https://www.mapleridge.ca/GoVote), or pick one up at City Hall (11995 Haney Place) starting Oct. 7. Completed mail ballots must reach the chief election officer by 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 17, to be counted. Late ballots will not be accepted.

General Voting Day is Saturday, Oct. 17, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voting places are Whonnock Elementary School (27471 112 Ave.); Garibaldi Secondary School (24789 Dewdney Trunk Rd.); Albion Community Centre (24165 104 Ave.); Yennadon Elementary School (23347 128 Ave.); Ridge Meadows Seniors Activity Centre (12150 224 St.); Laity View Elementary School (21023 123 Ave.); Hammond Elementary School (11520 203 St.); and Thomas Haney Secondary School (23000 116 Ave.).

To vote as a resident elector, a person must be at least 18 on General Voting Day, a Canadian citizen, a Maple Ridge resident, have lived in British Columbia for at least six months before registering, and not be disqualified by law. The city will use the provincial voters list; people already registered as provincial voters will be on Maple Ridge’s list of electors. Residents can check their registration at elections.bc.ca (http://www.elections.bc.ca/). Eligible voters who are not on the list can vote by showing two pieces of identification with their name and residential address, such as a B.C. driver’s licence or BC Services card. People who live outside Maple Ridge but own property in the city may qualify as non-resident property electors.

The three assent vote questions concern long-term borrowing for the proposed Hammond Aquatics and Recreation Centre, Hammond Multi-Use Community Park and Albion Twin-Rink Arena Expansion. Each question is decided separately and passes if more than 50 per cent of valid votes cast are Yes.
